Twas the release before Christmas
And all through the App
There was random data access code,
It was looking like crap.
Connections were carelessly
Left open everywhere.
Others might think
That I didn’t care.
I needed to put an end
To this custom coding.
I needed to support
Concurrency and Lazy Loading.
I wrote so much SQL
I could hardly think.
God how I wished
My DAL supported LINQ.
It was looking helpless;
Like there was nothing I could do.
It was not unlike
The Kobayashi Maru.
That’s when it hit me,
As I was thinking of Kirk.
I needed to implement
The Entity Framework!
It supported LINQ and Concurrency
And had a vast API.
I got so excited
I had a tear in my eye.
Then the reality set in;
I had a lot of work to do.
I had to learn a new Framework,
And it was a big one too.
I bought all the books,
Read all the code.
I even brought my laptop
With me to the commode.
But all of the studying
Was beginning to pain me.
It was taking too long
I needed someone to train me.
But what would I do?
(I was starting to whine)
I needed training now.
I needed it online.
The training I found
Was from deveducate.com.
And forgive my vernacular
But it was ‘Da Bomb’!
I learned EF4
In not months or even weeks.
It was a matter of hours
And brought a smile to my cheeks.
Now my release
Is long out of sight.
Happy coding to all
And to all a good night.
